The Graduate Certificate for Dual Credit Teaching in United States History provides an opportunity for instructors who already have a master鈥檚 degree in another area to be credentialed to teach Dual Credit U.S. History courses. Teaching dual credit courses almost immediately raises the income-earning potential of high school educators and expands career options to include community college teaching. 

This graduate certificate is designed for students who already have a master鈥檚 in another field and now want to teach dual credit U.S. History.

    The certificate program is expected to be completed in 7-12 months:

    Students who participate in the certificate program may apply their completed credit hours toward a master’s in Public History:

  • Courses

    The certificate includes 18 credit hours of graduate-level courses in U.S. History and can be completed in asynchronous, online courses or in person. Courses include:

    • History of the American West and Borderlands 
    • Topics in U.S. History: Gender 
    • Topics in U.S. History: Political and Military History 
    • Topics in U.S. History: Race and Ethnicity 
    • Topics in U.S. History: Social and Economic History 
    • United States in World History 


Graduate Certificate Admission and Tuition

Admission

Interested applicants must complete the and upload a copy of the highest degree-granting transcript (bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚). The GRE/GMAT is not required for admission to this certificate program.

Please note: An unofficial copy of your transcript can be used to apply for admission to the program. If enrolled in the program, students will be required to submit an official transcript within four weeks of the start of class.

Tuition

The Graduate Certificate for Dual Credit Teaching in U.S. History is offered at a fixed rate of $12,000, which includes tuition, required fees and course materials. Students enrolled in this program are not currently eligible to receive federal or state financial assistance. 

Military, dependents of military members and Department of Defense employees may be eligible for a tuition discount.
